Reishi, cordyceps and propolis: science-backed immune support for cold season
Cold season is no reason to live on tea with lemon. Here's what's genuinely studied for immune support, how it works at the cellular level, and why mushrooms deserve a place in your routine.
Immunity is a system, not a 'pill'
There's no single magic supplement that 'boosts immunity' in a day. But there are ingredients with documented effects on immune cells and inflammation. The strategy is to support the system holistically and in advance — especially during periods of high stress and sleep debt when defenses dip.
Reishi: how beta-glucans 'train' immunity
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is one of the most studied medicinal mushrooms. Its key actives are beta-glucan polysaccharides. The mechanism: beta-glucans are recognized by immune-cell receptors (notably dectin-1 on macrophages and neutrophils) and act as 'training' — modulating their activity [1][2]. Reishi is classed as an adaptogen — a substance that helps the body cope with stress, which itself suppresses immunity.
Cordyceps and propolis on the team
Cordyceps is studied not only for endurance but also for effects on immune and inflammatory processes [5][6]. Propolis is a bee product rich in polyphenols and flavonoids; reviews describe its antioxidant, antimicrobial and immunomodulating properties [3][4]. Together with reishi this gives layered support rather than a single 'vector'.
Where it's absorbed — and why that's a plus
An important nuance: beta-glucans don't need to be fully absorbed into the blood to work. A large part of the immune system (GALT) sits in the gut wall, and that's exactly where beta-glucans contact immune and M-cells, triggering a signal. Propolis polyphenols are partly absorbed and provide antioxidant effects. The water format delivers the components evenly along the GI tract — no 'lump' of an undissolved capsule.
Honestly about benefits: support, not a cure
Let's be direct: neither reishi nor propolis will 'cure a cold' or replace vaccination, sleep and nutrition. Their role is systemic support of immune function with regular use, especially in at-risk groups and stressful periods [1][2]. The stick's value is a consistent habit and working doses — not a promise of miracles.
MY4 RESIST — defense in a stick
MY4 RESIST brings reishi, cordyceps and propolis together in one stick with BCAA — sugar-free. A convenient way to keep immune support on hand at the office, on the road, and through cold season when there's no time to brew anything.
